Amsterdam Fashion Week, Spring Summer 2008 shows

Der Kommissar S/S 2008 'Over 21 degrees'

Who doesn’t know the iconic scene of Anita Ekberg in the Fontana di Trevi from La Dolce Vita? The combination of a beautiful woman and a beautiful fountain wrote history, Der Kommissar used this winning combination for the presentation of its Spring-Summer 2008 collection and will be remembered as well.

Annelies Nuy presented one of the most memorable shows during Amsterdam Fashion Week. The art-deco fountain of the Americain Hotel was the romantic background for her latest lingerie and swimwear designs or as the designer likes to call them: ‘sunwear’. The first model coming out of the hotel, dressed in a golden and silver bathing suit, reminded us of Esther Williams during her Hollywood heydays: the show had begun…

Nuy designed a cosmopolitan collection of summer couture around her customary themes of Please, Play, Passion and Power. Pointy bras and high-waist bottoms created a new silhouette that found a balance in being both sexy and stylish. The show slowly moved from more romantic ensembles to Nuy’s well-known Power outfits for the more daring. Models paraded around the fountain dressed in patent leather and silver lurex with cheekily placed zips. Ideal for late night pool parties in one of the metropolises around the world…
