Your monthly guide to international fashion and beauty!
Now that the seasonal parties have ended, it’s time to look forward into the New Year. We’ve all made resolutions; lose weight, find that special someone, or maybe try out for that dream job. No matter what your goals are this year, it’s always important to look your best. Take care with your appearance, and benefit from the confidence boost that looking great can give. The world is your oyster! This month, we focus on the window to the soul…the eye. Do you suffer from tired or puffy eyes? Lines and under eye shadows plague many women, especially after the tiresome holidays. Give your peepers a much needed boost with these health and beauty tips!
Home Remedies
-
The first step to renewal is lots of water. Drinking the recommended dose of 8 glasses a day will not only brighten the eye area, but will hydrate your skin.
-
Too much holiday partying? Not getting those precious 8 hours? It’s fine to live like an heiress, but at the end of the day, your skin will tell the tale. Revive puffy eyes by washing in cold water twice a day, to reduce inflammation. When you’ve got a few moments spare, sit with chilled cucumber, tea bags, or cold compress made from wet cotton balls over the eyes. Here your skin is thinnest, and the cold will constrict blood vessels, allowing for a less puffy appearance. For emergencies, keep spoons or wet cotton swabs in plastic bags in the freezer. Apply spoons to eye area, or in the case of swabs, roll underneath the eye to diminish unsightly puffiness.
-
Establish a regular beauty routine. Remove your makeup each and every night, then cleanse your face. Makeup can clog the sensitive skin around the eye, and bring about dark circles. Also, use creams specifically designed for the eye area, as the skin differs from that of the rest of the face.
-
Relax. The number one factor causing lined, wrinkled eyes and premature aging is stress. Take time out for yourself with soothing facial masks and long, luxurious soaks for youthful looking skin.
Best Buys
Love the Planet Eyebright Gel I have always suffered from chronic under eye circles, and rarely step out of the house without clever concealer. Even when my skin is behaving, I can never seem to rid myself of that under eye shadow. As I’ve been embracing more and more organic blends, I find myself impressed with the potency of Mother Nature. Sometimes, it doesn’t take a whole lot of scientifically proven chemicals…you just need one really great product. The results from Love the Planet’s Eyebright Gel is astonishing. Applied after washingmy face and moisturizing,
my circles lessened considerably after the product was absorbed, and the skin around my eye felt firmer and refreshed. My eyes looked more radiant than they had in weeks; no more tired, puffy eyes! Love the Planet claims that this little beauty is created with only apricot oil, herbal tinctures, and aloe vera, but I’m positive witchcraft must be involved. Not that I mind in the least, I’ve been solidly converted, and I’m sure you will be too. This popular favourite is available at lovetheplanet.co.uk.
Temple Spa Windows of the Soul This handy little moisturizer is packed with nutrients, and distributed by one of my favourite companies, the Temple Spa. Windows of the Soul can be used any time of day, if your skin is looking tired and you need a little jolt to your appearance. Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate The founder of Juice Beauty started in her kitchen, blending freshly-squeezed organic juices with essential oils. Today, her products are available worldwide. All products are certified organic and feature 100% vegetarian ingredients that are free from parabens and pesticides. What this means to you is a healthy, natural skincare alternative with juice concentrates, vitamins, and essential nutrients. Smoothing Eye Concentrate, when used in addition to your usual skincare regimen, is a powerful moisturizer that not only hydrates the tender skin around the eye, but will help smooth fine lines and brighten under eye circles. This is a fantastic item, made from organic grape and carrot juices, which are then blended with vitamins B5, C, K, and P…I have been nothing but impressed with the entire Juice Beauty line, and highly recommend any of their products, found at juicebeauty.com.
Borghese Botanico Eye Compresses I absolutely cannotget enough of the Borghese product range, and I am sure that you will be hearing more about them from me in the future. These compresses are perfect if you are looking for a bit of self pampering stress relief after a hard day or work, or play. I highly recommend using this in conjunction with one of the Borghese facial masks, then apply for a bit of at home spa action. The secret to these products is the infusion of the Acqua di Vita “Living Water” Complex, a rejuvenating anti aging ingredient specific to the Borghese line. These compresses do it all; combat puffiness, rehydrate the eye area, and reduce signs of lines and wrinkles. They are suitable for all skin types, plus contact lens wearers and those with sensitive eyes. Suitable whether you are looking for a quick pick me up, or some much needed “me” time, with anti-inflammatory plant extracts of tea seed, euphrasia, golden seal, and witch hazel. Check out all that this spectacular company has to offer at borghese.com.
Recommended! Let’s face it, you’re only as good as your concealer, and the Eraser from Tarte Cosmetics is a godsend. Whatever your guilty little secret, the Eraser will hide it, almost in the blink of an eye! Made with Vitamin E and safflower oil to hydrate skin and combat dark circles, plus chamomile, arnica, aloe leaf and cucumber extracts to reduce puffiness and tighten skin. This is the perfect concealer, not only disguising flaws, but attacking problems at the source. Yet another hit from Tarte, who are quickly gaining momentum as one of my favourite cosmetic brands. The packaging is flawless too; your girlfriends will wonder how you can afford such high end makeup. You’ll know the truth though…Tarte not only works, it’s also quite affordable. Look out for new products at tartecosmetics.com, and stay tuned for your next beauty update!
