PERCY IRAUSQUIN

ILJA VISSER

The Amsterdam International Fashion Week took place during 25.01.2006-30.01.2006. Indeed this was an event the city of Amsterdam, and the whole country of The Netherlands could be proud of. With the contribution of the critically acclaimed designers and a new batch of fresh young talents who were all very eager to wow their audience, the AIFW got quite an international feel to it. Of course, we would be blowing our own horns a bit too fanatically if we were to compare the Amsterdam runways and designers to those of Paris, Milan, NY and London. However, we are getting there slowly but surely.

Percy Irausquin, Mart Visser and newcomer Ilja Visser presented very feminine collections, whereas Daryl van Wouw came up with neither very obvious nor wearable garments, such as dissected t-shirts with multi-colored prints and layering of tulle. Either love it or leave it, but in the end isn’t that with everything that is to do with personal taste? What matters most is that there is a very creative and ambitious energy flowing in the Dutch Capital, which we can absorb once again this summer when there will be another edition of the Amsterdam Fashion Week.
