HELEN CHASED

Helen Maher showed her third A/W '05 collection at London Fashion Week, under her alias, 'Helen Chased'. Showing at the famous 'The End' club. Helen was sponsored by Lee Cooper for her third & current A/W'05 collection.

"They supplied me with all fabric which really allowed me to expand the size of my collections and encouraged me to be more commercial and wearable whilst still keeping my design integrity. I've always been in love with denim and I wanted to liberate it from it's usual constraints.


I experimented with the 'flat-felled' seam, (the one on the inside of one's trouser leg). I curved, widened & stretched it. I also dropped all the yokes to give a 'lop-sided', 'sans caffeine' look. One shoulder slightly bigger than the other, kinked knees and longish sleeves. I was inspired by pre-evolutionary man crossed with teenage delinquents. I love the concept of fresh ideas not yet subject to the constraints of institution, that’s when anything can happen. The woman who wears my collection wants to reflect that quiet revolution going on in her head. She is unconventional and brilliant."
