S'NOB

image

image

Scandinavian design and fashion have been hot for quite a few years now and if it’s up to them this will be the case for 2007 as well. You may already be familiar with names such as Henrik Vibskov, Wood Wood and Acne and S’NOB is another young brand to add to your list. The brand creates feminine, flattering silhouettes that mix ‘tomboy chic’ with enhancement of the female curves; high waists and empire line tops are signature for S’NOB’s AW 2008 collection.

image

S'Nob is part of the Danish Metropol Group. Metropol was founded in 1997 by Tommy Hyldahl and the designer is Birgitte Herskind. The company has since then, grown at rapid – but organic speed towards an international business, with production all over the world.

DIOR'S BOX OF WONDERS

image
Dior: Earrings yellow gold, diamonds, amethysts and coral / Earrings white gold, diamonds, sapphires and coral

“Who said real should be boring ?” is quite a provocative question uttered by Victoire de Castellane. We all know that real diamonds, precious stones and metals are far from boring!

After 14 years spent designing costume jewellery for Chanel with Karl Lagerfeld, Victoire was appointed in 1998 by Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, as designer of the first ever collection of Fine Jewellery for the house of Dior. With a great share of eccentricity, energy and fantasy, Victoire is firmely decided to shake up the rather staid and conventional world of Haute Joaillerie.

image
Dior: Turtle ring: Ring yellow gold, diamonds, tsavorites and black opal from Etiopia. Ring "Incroyable Oiseau", yellow gold, diamonds, morganite, multicoloures sapphires, cultured pearls and tsavorites garnets

Her latest creations for ‘Victoire’s case (Le Coffret de Victoire)’ prove that Victoire knows how to please a lady… Her sealife creations perfectly match a nautical summer.

Her creativity is enhanced by using precious stones she is so fond of since her childhood days when she used to play with her grandmother’s jewels, the utterly elegant Sylvia Hennessy who changed her parure to match her clothes. Originality and even eccentricity refering to her great-great uncle, the Belle-Epoque dandy, Boni de Castellane.
Through her creations, she acts as a storyteller giving them so far identity, legitimacy, poetry and peculiar charm while mixing them with her own inclination to colours, transparency, lightness, exotism, eccentricity and discretion.
Victoire’s dream ? “To suggest a fairy’s feather or a pirate’s treasure and to express through these parures which glide, palpitate and flow over the skin, the infinite movement of luxury, combining classical lines and extreme extravagance, daring us to spread our wings, soar ever higher, and be fully ourselves”.
