Daryl van Wouw
CATWALK SHOW / SPRING SUMMER 2007
Street couture designer Daryl van Wouw always proves to be one of the more remarkable designers showing at Amsterdam Fashion week. This time he only used black and white as his ‘colour scheme’, a restriction that proved to be successful for a collection that made a strong statement. The black and white ‘x-ray’ prints showed Daryl’s favourite things in life: his earphones, cassette tapes, his BMX bicycle and more. This contrast was reinforced by his silhouettes that were very feminine yet street smart with a sharp attitude. Jimmy Rage was responsible for the visuals and music at the show that were the icing on the cake of Daryl’s search for a clash. Maybe the strength of this show was in the fact that the Dutch designer presented a lifestyle, the world of Van Wouw with a pumping soundtrack and street savvy girls: at least for those 15 minutes everybody wanted to be a part of it… (JVG)
